🔗 Share this article Larian Studios Announce a New Divinity, Labeling it Their Biggest RPG Yet The speculation around the recent awards show was significant, notably after presenter Geoff Keighley shared a puzzling image of a strange statue. The secret has now been solved. The acclaimed developer is developing a fresh Divinity game. Announced as Divinity, the game was showcased with a bold trailer that included memorable imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to scenes of revelry and the very descent into chaos. Moving Beyond Original Sin Anyone hoping for Divinity Original Sin 3, prepare for a surprise. Larian warned that a direct sequel to its venerated RPGs is not being worked on now. Nevertheless, the developer described this new Divinity as a continuation of the main series. This distinction hints that the team might be crafting a real-time experience rather than another turn-based title. At this moment, we can only guess, as only a cinematic trailer is available. The Legacy of Divinity The Divinity series is highly rated and it's fair to claim it pioneered the recent resurgence of complex computer role-playing games. These games are celebrated for detailed worlds, branching plots, and deep class systems—elements that recently were perfected in games like Baldur's Gate 3. While its universe is familiar fare, what really distinguishes Divinity apart is the immense freedom bestowed upon the player. Where many modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is full of specialized paths that are viable with a particular class or origin with a unique decision path. The series is also notoriously flexible, allowing players to experiment in narrative and gameplay. Most missions can be approached in a variety of manners, often in unexpected fashion. You might find an answer because you recalled something an animal companion shared. Or, you could overcome an obstacle by teleporting a glob of lava in a unorthodox way. More to Come It is precisely these elements that allow people to declare games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as among the greatest role-playing games of all time. Now, players can look forward to another adventure in this legendary franchise.
